VOICE Club is an
acronym for Visions of Inner Culture Ethnicity.
Our club celebrates our diverse backgrounds by
uniting every Salmen student as one to make
Salmen High School a better place. It does not
matter what ethnicity a student is from,
everyone has a place among our group.
In the VOICE Club,
we have many fun activities that keep us busy
throughout the year. In the fall, we hold an
annual Fall Talent Show that has poetry, music,
dance, and singing. In January, we begin to
prepare for the Black History Program that takes
place in February. For the month of March,
Southeastern University in Hammond hosts an
annual Leadership Conference to motivate young
people to be successful in their lives. In
April, we hold an annual International Tea, a
day dedicated to the education of world cultures
by offering informational lectures and delicious
food. We also have field trips to visit
historical places to learn about cultural
backgrounds.
We finalize
the year with a banquet where we invited the
family to share with us what we have
accomplished throughout the year. Our senior
members are given the opportunity to receive a
scholarship from our annual scholarship contest.
We have seasonal
parties for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and
Christmas.
